General Data Protection Regulation and Secure Network Printing

On May 25, 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), leading to a harmonization of European data protection laws, became binding. For companies and public authorities, this results in numerous obligations with regard to the processing of personal data (Article 5, GDPR). It is therefore recommended to check in advance whether your IT processes, especially network printing, are GDPR-compliant. Any security shortcomings must be resolved in order to avoid fines, which can be very high.

When printing in the corporate network, there are various security risks with regard to personal data:

  • Unencrypted transmission of personal data
  • Unencrypted storage of personal data on servers or printer hard drives during the printing process
  • Accidental printing of confidential documents to the wrong corporate printers
  • Documents with personal data falling into the wrong hands at the printer

ThinPrint helps you to ensure your printing processes are data-secure without requiring investment in new hardware. In this white paper, you will learn how to secure the entire printing process against data protection risks and how to ensure your print infrastructure is fully fit for the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.
