DRIVER FREE PRINTING
This technology allows you to variably distribute the Windows print process in the network. A virtual printer driver, the ThinPrint Output Gateway, initially transmits the print data in a printer-independent format. This enables you to use the original printer driver only where it makes sense and is easy to manage. Depending on the application scenario this can be the client computer or a central print server.
Operation of client print properties
The virtual printer driver used with DRIVER FREE PRINTING (ThinPrint Output Gateway) allows you to access all the print options and properties of the target printer. Standard properties of the original printer drivers are read automatically. You can select options such as paper format, duplex print and the correct paper tray in the normal way using the operator interface. Any special functions of the printer can be easily operated using a preview on the Client.
ADVANCED ADAPTIVE COMPRESSION
With ThinPrint you can reduce your print data volume by up to 98%, thereby significantly speeding up the printing output from your network. Thanks to adaptive compression, the quality of print outs is maintained at all times. The individual components of the print jobs are analyzed prior to transfer and compressed with the best respective algorithm, ensuring high print speed with perfect printed images. Your administrator will also be pleased that the burden on the network has been reduced.
Mixed 32 bit and 64 bit printing environments
With ThinPrint you can maintain optimum print output regardless of whether servers, client PCs or virtual desktops are working with 32 or 64 bit operating systems. This can saves on investments for new hardware if no 64 bit printer drivers are available for your printers when migrating to 64 bit.
Printing to thin clients, network printers, printboxes
ThinPrint gives you the option of using DRIVER FREE PRINTING even if your receiving terminals are technically unable to prepare a Windows print job. Because of the Printer Virtualization Layer (V-Layer) you can also benefit from a centralized administration of your printer drivers when using thin clients, printboxes or network printers.
Integration of central print servers
Central print servers relieve your application servers and virtual desktops and simplify the administration of printer drivers. In such very advantageous and commonly implemented architecture all the ThinPrint function are, of course, fully available. In SBC environments you are thereby able to optimize print management even outside the virtual channel.
Support for remote print servers and printing appliances
ThinPrint .print enables compressed and bandwidth-optimized printing to remote print servers (for example, in branch offices) or print appliances. The administration of printers belonging to the respective branch office is thus outsourced to the respective office.
Size-Optimized Native Printing
ThinPrint can transfer your print data over a network with high compression even when using original printer drivers. This saves on bandwidth and significantly accelerates print output.
Printer Virtualization Layer
In many network environments, central print servers have long been used to relieve the application server and increase system performance. The ThinPrint Printer Virtualization Layer (V-Layer) supports this approach and also allows you to use DRIVER FREE PRINTING technology on central print servers. In this way you can store all original printer drivers centrally on your print server, while the virtual printer driver (ThinPrint Output Gateway) is used everywhere else. The sharing is done using the ThinPrint Output Gateway, which is coupled with the original printer drivers.
Connection-oriented bandwidth control of print data
ThinPrint bandwidth control ensures that the bandwidth set for the port is not exceeded even if multiple users are printing at the same time (for example, if all printers at a branch office are only addressed by one ThinPrint port). This method offers distinct advantages as compared to simple user-based methods for restricting bandwidth.
Direct printing to network printers
ThinPrint also supports the TCP/IP protocol. This allows you to send compressed and (if required) SSL-encrypted print data directly to the network printer. If the network printer has access to a ThinPrint client, print data is decompressed and decrypted directly on the device, allowing you to benefit from optimum performance, minimal administration requirements and maximum security through end-to-end encryption. Support for PCoIP protocol
ThinPrint .print also supports the PCoIP protocol. This allows users to print from their virtual VMware View desktops to local or network printers, without any additional printer drivers needing to be installed on the desktops.
Mixed environments
ThinPrint .print can be deployed without any limitations in mixed VMware View, Citrix XenApp or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services environments.
Support for blade PCs
ThinPrint can also be used on blade PCs. Benefit in this environment as well from DRIVER FREE PRINTING, high print data compression and all the other advantages of the ThinPrint .print technology.
SSL / TLS encryption
ThinPrint sends print jobs over networks with 128 bit encryption, which ensures that even highly sensitive documents are complete safe from unauthorized access when printing using WAN connections. The software allows for an end-to-end encryption right up until the print stage - regardless of which printer models you are using.
Cluster operation of print servers
Central print servers relieve your application servers or virtual desktops and simplify the administration of printer drivers. In such very advantageous and commonly implemented architecture all the ThinPrint function are, of course, fully available. As ThinPrint can also be installed on Microsoft Cluster servers, fault-free operation remains assured.
Recording and analysis of company-wide printing costs
The .print Tracking Service integrated into the software allows you to comprehensively document and analyze printing patterns in your company. The information recorded is stored in an SQL database. Using the .print Report Engine you can easily analyze printing patterns and costs for individual employees, departments or entire branches using a graphical interface. This provides valuable information to assist with the efficient distribution of printing hardware and the ability to identify cost savings potential.
Printing in masked networks
ThinPrint allows you to access network printers in branch offices even when no dedicated line or VPN connection is available. The .print Connected Gateway can be used to establish a tunnel between the main office and a branch office, allowing you to print to network printers in the branch office just as you would to printers in the LAN. You therefore do not need to invest in an expensive dedicated line in branch offices.
Secure delivery of print jobs
With ThinPrint all print jobs are relayed in a reliable manner - even in the event of long line interruptions or hardware disruptions (e.g. if there are paper jams or a printer is turned off). With the .print Queue Manager you simply define the desired send options, such as the number of send attempts or retry intervals. Your print jobs will be maintained until the job is printed or the defined time limit has expired.
Central, dynamic set-up and administration of printing environment
You can use the .print Management Center to simplify the installation and administration of complex printing environments. You can also make extensive changes in your print environment with the support of the database, and with just a few clicks.
