Virtual Channel Gateway
Benefit from central print servers: When you use central print servers, print data can generally only be transmitted via TCP/IP. However, in some application scenarios it is useful to transmit print data via a virtual channel of the ICA protocol (Citrix) or RDP protocol (Microsoft). Using the Virtual Channel Gateway, you can benefit from the advantages of the central print server concept but are still able to transmit print data via ICA or RDP.
If the clients cannot be reached via TCP/IP – for example, due to firewall settings or NAT (Network Address Translation) – print jobs can be sent either using Connection Service to ThinPrint Clients with TCP/IP type or using Virtual Channel Gateway to ThinPrint Clients with ICA or RDP type. The Virtual Channel Gateway transfers print data from the print server to the associated user session and forwards it to the right user.

The Virtual Channel Gateway forms a part of the ThinPrint Server Engine. On terminal servers it can be easily configured in the configuration console with just a few mouse clicks. On virtual desktops there is no need for Virtual Channel Gateway configuration.
