Virtual Channel Gateway
When you use central print servers, print data can generally only be transmitted via TCP/IP. However, in some application scenarios it is useful to transmit print data via a virtual channel of the ICA protocol (Citrix) or RDP (Microsoft). Using the ThinPrint Virtual Channel Gateway, you can benefit from the advantages of the central print server concept but are still able to transmit print data via ICA or RDP. The use of a Virtual Channel Gateway makes sense if the clients cannot be reached via TCP/IP - for example, due to firewall settings or NAT (Network Address Translation). Print data is transferred from the print server to the associated user session and forwarded to the right user.

The .print Virtual Channel Gateway forms a part of the .print Server Engine and can be easily configured in the ThinPrint user interface of the MMC (Microsoft Management Console) with just a few mouse clicks.
