With our new free Desktop Extension toolkit, due for release in the third quarter this year, organizations using XenDesktop environments will have access to all the features that the leading ThinPrint .print Engine 8.0 offers, even in XenDesktop environments.
Included is Session-in-Session printing, supported since .print Engine 8.0. If you connect for example with your virtual desktop, then open a Published Application on the XenApp server, all correct printers from the session first opened will still be displayed.
Another key feature of the toolkit is the Virtual Channel Gateway, enabling you to print via virtualized desktops in masked networks when using a central print server, such as from branch offices. The latest V-Layer™ technology allows you to entirely relocate the original printer driver administration to a central print server. Complex installation of drivers onto virtual desktops or client devices is no longer necessary.
To ensure you always have automatic access the nearest local or network printer, the Desktop Extension toolkit also includes an improved AutoConnect feature, which was released with .print Engine 8.0. AutoConnect GPOs (Group Policy Objects) specify which printer is available for which desktop or user. Installation on the virtual desktop is unnecessary.
The Desktop Extension toolkit is available as an msi file. The toolkit can be installed on the desktops remotely and unattended.
In addition to the features included in the Desktop Extension, as a .print Engine 8.0 customer, you can benefit from features such as print data compression, SSL Encryption and bandwidth control.
